Metro Gas Steak Marinade & Barbecue Recipe
Ingredients (Serves 4):
- 4 steaks of your choice (trimmed of excess fat for even cooking)
- 1 cup red wine (plus a little extra for the chef, perhaps?)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons chili paste (the kind in a jar works perfectly)
- Juice of half a lemon
Instructions:
- Prepare the Marinade
In a large, shallow dish, whisk together the red wine, soy sauce, fish sauce, garlic, maple syrup, chili paste, and lemon juice. This blend of flavors creates a delicious balance of savory, sweet, and tangy. - Marinate the Steak
Lay the steaks in a single layer in the dish, ensuring they’re completely coated in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3–4 hours (or overnight for a deeper flavor). - Fire Up Your Barbecue

Place them on the hot barbecue and cook to your preferred doneness: Rare: 2–3 minutes per side Medium-rare: 3–4 minutes per side Well-done: 5–6 minutes per side While grilling, avoid pressing down on the steaks to retain their juices. - Rest and Serve
Transfer the steaks to a plate and let them rest for 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute for maximum flavor. Serve alongside a fresh Greek salad for the perfect meal.
